MUMBAI: The Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee today alleged that the state government is planning to compensate Rs 125 crore loss suffered by toll companies due to waiver of toll tax after demonetisation.

MPCC spokesman Sachin Sawant claimed the toll companies have sought Rs 125 crore as compensation and government is ready to reimburse it.

"Should only the poor sacrifice for the country. Why shouldn't toll companies sacrifice for the country," he asked.

Due to demonetisation, common man has suffered. Due to restrictions on district cooperative banks, rural economy has suffered. Common man and farmers need reimbursement of their losses due to demonetisation, he said.
