MUMBAI: Nationalist Congress Party in Maharashtra will join the "Jan Akrosh din" protest called by the Opposition parties on November 28 against the demonetisation decision of the Centre.

Party spokesperson Nawab Malik said NCP had initially welcomed the move to scrap Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 denomination notes. However, the implementation has not been proper since the decision was taken without proper planning, he said.

"This has resulted in economic anarchy and farmers, farm labourers, small industries, labourers, traders and poor people have suffered," he said.

Malik said party workers will come out on the streets to highlight the problems of the common man.

Congress has also organised protests in all parts of the state on Monday.
