NEW DELHI: Senior Maharashtra minister Narayan Rane, a known detractor of Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, today met Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi.
The meeting comes close on the heels of a controversy in which some party workers created uproar at a function in Mumbai addressed by Gandhi last month.
An inquiry was ordered into the incident by the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) and Rane had denied reports of any hand in the disturbances at the meeting of party workers.
Reports had it that Rane himself wanted to present a report to the party chief to "expose" those behind the disturbances.
