New Delhi: The political tussle in Maharashtra may cast its shadow over the joint sitting of Parliament scheduled for Tuesday. The Congress, along with like-minded Opposition parties, is planning protests in both the Houses of Parliament from Monday with some leaders indication it could spill over to the special sitting – which is to be addressed by the President, Vice President and the Prime Minister. The Opposition leaders have been alleging the Modi regime is working to undermine the Constitutional provisions, including in Maharashtra.
Some Congress Parliamentarian held a meeting in Delhi on Sunday and decided to stage protests in both the Houses of Parliament from Monday even while keeping an eye on the developments in the Supreme Court.
“The way the Modi government is functioning with scant respect for Constitutional provisions, including the methods it adopting in Maharashtra, there are bound to have its repercussions on the function on 26th,’ said a Congress leader, adding the party representatives are in talks with other Opposition party leader.
The Congress leaders also claimed victory after SC asked the Centre to submit Maharashtra Governor’s letters inviting Devendra Fadnavis to form government. “I am thankful to the court that they heard our petition even though it was a Sunday.

Tomorrow, the matter will be heard again at 10:30 am. The Fadnavis government is illegitimate. Before any horse-trading happens, the floor test should happen,” former Maharashtra chief minister Prithviraj Chavan said in Delhi.
“It is now clear that the BJP is shying away from a floor test obviously due to is lack of numbers,” he said. Congress’ Abhishek Singhvi also rubbished BJP claim that Ajit Pawar is still the NCP whip. “Those make such claim think law is an ass. Ajit Pawar is now an isolated man with the support of just 3 or 4 MLAs and, the legal and constitutional provisions are clear that NCP has appointed a new party whip and MLAs will follow the whip issued by the party whip”.
