Maharashtra Governor C Vidyasagar Rao asks Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar to ban use of pesticides in the country
Maharashtra Governor C Vidyasagar Rao on Sunday asked Union Minister for Environment and Forests Prakash Javadekar to ban the use of pesticides in the country. Rao suggested to Javadekar that he should bring the issue of banning pesticides in the Union Cabinet so that the government could ban it as it was harming humans and animals alike.

“We must discourage the use of pesticides, please discuss this in the cabinet. Earlier we used to see small sparrows outside our homes in villages, now a days they are not be found and this is because of pesticides. Most of the farm animals die because they eat fodder that is contaminated with these pesticides. Vultures are not found because they too are dying because of the use of pesticides.”said the Governor. He added that pesticides were also found in the breast milk and hence the government must take steps to protect the bio diversity by banning pesticides.”said Rao.
