Maharashtra government sanctions Rs 60 crore for Disaster Response Force

Maharashtra government today sanctioned Rs 60 crore for establishing State Disaster Response Force and a disaster control room of international standard.

MUMBAI: Maharashtra government today sanctioned Rs 60 crore for establishing State Disaster Response Force and a disaster control room of international standard.

The new system will be on built-operate-manage basis and private parties will be involved in the project, Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Patangrao Kadam said here.

SDRF will be provided with emergency response vehicles and early warning systems will be installed at control room, he said.

About the monsoon situation in the state, Kadam said he had asked district collectors to submit reports on requirement of tanker water supply, fodder camps, and prepare panchnamas on loss of life or property due to heavy rains that have set in.

He had asked district collectors and Water Resources Department to finalise 'flood lines' and work on housing for the affected people, he said.
