NASHIK: The Maharashtra government has made a provision of Rs 340 crore in its annual budget for Nashik and Trimbakeshwar Kumbh Mela to be held in 2015-16, Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan said here.

Chavan said this after launching the Trimbakeshwar's Akhil Bharatiya Shri Swami Samarth Gurupeeth's campaign for drought assistance here yesterday.

Under its campaign, the gurupeeth provided an assistance of 108 fodder trucks and as many water tanks for the drought affected people here.

Chavan said there is no alternative but to distribute water in the drought-affected areas from the stock available in the state.

Senior BJP leader Gopinath Munde, former Maharashtra Chief minister Ashok Chavan, ministers-- Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil, Chhagan Bhujbal, Harshvardhan Patil among others were present on the occasion.

Chavan also inaugurated the national agro exhibiting organised by gurupeeth on the occasion.
