Maharashtra: Day after Uddhav's call to PM, Guv Koshyari writes to ECI seeking polls for 9 MLC seats

Days afer the Maharashtra cabinet recommended to him proposing Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray's appointment to the Legislative Council, Governor B S Koshyari on Thursday requested the Election Commission of India (ECI) to declare polls for nine vacant seats of the Upper House of the state Legislature. Since Uddhav Thackeray is not a member of either house of the State Legislature, he needs to get elected to the the Council before May 27, 2020, the statement said.
