NAGPUR: The opposition in Maharashtra Legislative Council today stalled proceedings for the second day over drought and farmers issues in the state.

When the House assembled for the day, Opposition members stormed the well and began slogan shouting resulting in two adjournments in an hour.

Amid din, chairperson Shivajirao Deshmukh announced Ekanath Khadse as Leader of Council and Chandrakant Patil as Deputy leader of the Upper house.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also introduced his cabinet members to the House amidst noisy scenes with Opposition refusing to relent and disrupting the proceedings on farmer woes.

Deshmukh adjourned the House initially for 15 minutes and when the proceedings resumed, the opposition continued its protest leading to the second adjournment till noon.
