He also promised the migrants of all possible help- food, shelter and necessary medication. Thackeray also urged the migrants to stay in their current locations and assured them of necessary arrangements once the situation improves.
Underlining his govt's approach to contain the virus, he said that the state had sought permission for plasma therapy and using BCG vaccine.
Expressing concerns about the incident, Home Minister Amit Shah said:"Such events weaken India's fight against coronavirus and the administration needs to stay vigilant to avoid these, Amit Shah told the Chief Minister. He also offered his full support to the Maharashtra government."
"Around 4 p.m., a group of around 1500 migrant workers gathered near the Bandra railway station. In view of the extended lockdown, they wanted to back to their hometowns. Senior police officials tried to reason with them but a section turned violent. We managed to disperse them without causing any injury. Now the situation is peaceful and under control," said spokesperson Mumbai Police.
