Maharashtra CM Prithviraj Chavan stays DB Realty’s housing contract
The Chief Minister has issued the order after receiving several complaints about the builder.
Shiv Sena has alleged that Goyalganga group, Mahindra Lifespace, Panchasheel Limited and Man-Ajwani Infra Construction were the original bidders for this project. But in the final process, DB Realty suddenly appeared and was awarded the contract in association with Man-Ajwani group.
Opposition parties had raised the issue of this contract being awarded to DB Realty in the last Assembly session. The Chief Minister had promised to take action after an inquiry into the case.
The work on this project started in March 2009. The Opposition parties also claimed that the builder was awarded excess FSI in the scheme and the slum dwellers, for whom the project was originally planned, were not getting the desired benefit.
The construction work of the project will now be stopped and if irregularities are established the project will be taken away from the builder according to state Government sources.
