Maharashtra BJP says didn't beat up Dalits, asks CM Devendra Fadnavis for investigation
MUMBAI: The BJP has asked the Maharashtra government to investigate whether Sunday’s fight between Dalit students protesting the suicide of Rohit Vemula and RSS workers in Dharavi was the result of a conspiracy.

BJP spokesperson Madhav Bhandari told ET that he had written to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis asking for an investigation into the incident.

"They (the protestors) were hell bent on creating a nuisance. They have tried to create a scene it was a stage managed incident. They had planned something," Bhandari claimed on Monday.

Bhandari said that there was ‘no substance’ in the allegation that Dalit students were attacked by RSS activists and claimed that most of the BJP and RSS workers in Dharavi were Dalits. He also claimed that one of those seriously injured in the incident was a BJP worker.

The Mumbai police has registered a case against RSS workers under the SC/ST Atrocity Act but have not made a single arrest.
