Maharashtra bandh: MVA govt claims success

In Mumbai, train services continued operations barring three or four instances where protestors tried to disrupt the services. Bus services were affected.

There was mixed response to the bandh called by the three major ruling parties constituting the Maha Vikas Aghadi government against the Lakhimpur violence that led to the death of four farmers in UP. Shops and other establishments downed their shutters in several parts of the state. While the MVA leaders called the bandh a success, the BJP claimed the state 'threatened' businesses to shut their operations. There were reports of sporadic violence from different parts of the state.

In districts, especially the ones with a bigger presence of MLAs from the ruling alliance, shops and establishments and APMCs remained shut till afternoon while the BJP ruled constituencies saw the establishments open.
