Maharashtra asks Defence, Railways and central undertakings to arrange for ICU beds
Considering that the Centre had spoken of an increase in cases in May, the state has been making arrangements for ICU beds in Mumbai and Thane and other prominent cities in the state, a statement released by the state government said.

ET had reported earlier in the day on how Mumbai is facing a critical situation where it is running out if ICU beds and doctors not just for Covid19 patients but even for those suffering from other ailments.
Not just the state government and BMC run hospitals but also private hospitals in the city face this crisis. . There are barely a handful of ICU beds left in Mumbai, and the city is also facing a huge shortage of doctors and other medical personnel.
The state government has also claimed that is has set up isolation and ICU beds in Mahalaxmi race course, Nehru science centre, Goregaon exhibition centre etc but needs more beds.
