Maharashtra government revokes general consent to CBI for probe
Maharashtra has already registered a case in the Fake TRP’s and the Mumbai police has claimed that Republic TV was involved in it.

The Maharashtra Home department on Tuesday issued an order which stated, “ In exercise of powers conferred by section 6 of the Delhi Special Police Establishment Act, 1946 (25 of 1946) the Government of Maharashtra hereby withdraws the consent accorded to the members of the Delhi Special Police Establishment vide government order..” Since the CBI draws its powers from the Delhi Special Police Establishments Act, 1946, the move will lead to the CBI’s powers in Maharashtra being curbed.
The move comes just a day after the CBI was handed over the case of the fake TRP’s by the Uttar Pradesh government. Maharashtra has already registered a case in the Fake TRP’s and the Mumbai police has claimed that Republic TV was involved in it.
The CBI is also probing the death of actor Sushant Singh which was earlier handled by the Mumbai police. The Maharashtra government had opposed the probe being handed over to the CBI.
