Mumbai: The quota war in Maharashtra is heating up as Maratha leader Manoj Jarange Patil, along with thousands of his followers, are just a few hours away from reaching Mumbai to carry out a quota stir. The Mumbai Police has denied permission for it. Patil and his followers are on their way to Mumbai on tractors and other vehicles to carry out an indefinite fast seeking reservation for the Maratha community.

They have reached Lonavala and would be reaching Navi Mumbai by Friday night, following which they are expected to reach Mumbai by Saturday.

Mumbai Police has refused permission to Jarange Patil to hold the agitation in Mumbai's Azad Maidan. The police had asked them to hold the agitation in Navi Mumbai's Kharghar instead of coming to Mumbai as the Azad Maidan would not be able to handle the thousands of Maratha supporters. However, Jarange Patil said that his supporters would hold a stir in Azad Maidan as well as in Shivaji Park, Dadar.
