The Supreme Court will take up a clutch of pleas pertaining to the Maharashtra political crisis on January 13. The matter, which was initially slotted for November 29, was mentioned before a bench headed by the Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud, on Tuesday. On September 27, in a setback for the Uddhav Thackery faction of the Shiv Sena, a five-member Constitution bench headed by the CJI had dismissed its plea seeking to restrain the Election Commission from deciding a dispute over the party's symbol.
