Madras High Court notice to Teachers' Recruitment Board

Madurai: Madras High Court today ordered notice to the Teachers' Recruitment Board, admitting a petition seeking to quash the Government Order relaxing five per cent mark for the candidates who appeared for the Teachers' Eligibility Test (TET) in 2013 and not for the 2012 batch.

Justice M M Sunderesh of the Madurai Bench of the High Court admitted the petition filed by S Vincent who wrote the examination in 2012, and ordered notice returnable within two weeks.

The petitioner submitted that he got 83 marks out of 150. Government should have implemented the Order giving concession from 2012, when the first examination was held under Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act,2009.

However the government decided to implement the concession from the next year. The government must have uniformly given the concession to the candidates from 2012 or should have gone for prospective implementation from 2014. Denying the concession benefit to TET2012 candidates was arbitary,and discriminatory, he contended.
