INDORE: In a bid to provide instant help to women commuters in distress, a Global Positioning System (GPS) will be installed in state public transport vehicles along with a 'safety button' linked to police control room, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has said.

The pressing of the safety button will directly alert the police control room and the security personnel will come to the rescue of the woman in need, Chouhan told reporters at a function in Geeta Nagar area here last night.

The new alert system will be launched initially in Indore where there are about 15,000 public transport vehicles, he said, adding that Rs 8 crore would be spent on this project.

To a query, he said the government would ensure that there is no shortage of urea and manure supply to farmers.

Five rail rakes of urea are reaching the state every day and its monthly 3,70,000 metric tons quota will be procured accordingly.

Union Minister Ananth Kumar has assured to increase urea and manure supply, Chouhan said, adding that there would be no shortage of these essential fertilisers for farmers.
