Madhya Pradesh scribe burnt to death by mining mafia, three held

A 40-year-old local journalist was allegedly murdered by three persons involved in illegal mining who kidnapped him and set him ablaze apparently over his refusal to withdraw a court case, police said.

BALAGHAT: Sandeep Kothari, 28, a journalist from Madhya Pradesh was allegedly burnt alive allegedly by the mining mafia in Maharashtra’s Wardha.

The Wardha police said they have recovered Sandeep’s half-burnt body. Sandeep was employed with a Jabalpur based newspaper and was abducted three days ago from Balaghat in MP.

He was brought to Wardha where his captors burnt him alive. Sandeep’s body was identified by his brother.

The Balaghat police have arrested three suspects connected to the mining mafia for their alleged involvement in the crime. The body has now been sent for a post-mortem.
