M Karunanidhi directs DMK RS MPs to contribute from MPLADS fund

CHENNAI: DMK President M Karunanidhi today directed his party's Rajya Sabha MPs to contribute Rs one crore each from their MPLADS fund towards flood relief activities in Tamil Nadu.

The MPs are being requested to contribute Rs 50 lakh towards the state government's flood relief fund and allocate another Rs 50 lakh towards implementing various works in the affected areas from their Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS), he said in a statement.

The DMK has four MPs in the Rajya Sabha including Karunanidhi's daughter Kanimozhi while the party has no representation in the Lok Sabha.
