LS productivity in current session 137 pc, RS 103 pc: Parliamentary Affairs Committee

The productivity of Lok Sabha in the recently concluded session was approximately 137 per cent, while that of Rajya Sabha was 103 per cent, the Parliamentary Affairs Committee said on Wednesday.

According to a statement issued by the Parliamentary Affairs Committee, the first session of the 17th Lok Sabha has been "historic" in many ways as legislations relating to almost all walks of socio and economic activities have been passed.

The committee said the productivity of Lok Sabha in the session was approximately 137 per cent, while that of Rajya Sabha was 103 per cent.


During this session, a total of 40 bills -- 33 in Lok Sabha and 7 in Rajya Sabha -- were introduced.

"Thirty-five bills were passed by Lok Sabha and 32 bills by Rajya Sabha, and 30 bills were passed by both the Houses of Parliament," the statement said.

"Thirty bills have been passed by both the Houses of Parliament in this session, which is a record in single first or effective session after constitution of new Lok Sabha," it said.

The bills passed by both the houses in the current session included the Muslim Women (Protection of Rights on Marriage) Bill, 2019, Jammu and Kashmir Reservation (Amendment) Bill, 2019, and the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill, 2019, among others.
