LS polls: Nominations not to be accepted on April 14, April 18

RAJAHMUNDRY (AP): No nomination will be accepted on April 14 which is Dr B R Ambedkar's birthday and April 18 ( Good Friday) since these are public holidays, East Godavari District Collector Neetu Kumari Prasad said today.

A message from the Chief Election Officer of Andhra Pradesh has been received to this effect, she said.

"It is informed that Babu Jagjivan Ram's birthday on April 5 and Sri Rama Navami on April 8, which happen to be public holidays, have to be considered as working days as per the Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881. Hence, nominations for the first phase of elections, can be received on April 5 and April 8," it said.

"Further, it is clarified that no nomination can be received for the second phase of elections on Dr BR Ambedkar's birthday (April 14) and Good Friday (April 18), the message from the CEO said.
