LS adjourned till Monday for lack of quorum

Business in the Lok Sabha collapsed this afternoon for want of quorum.

NEW DELHI: Business in the Lok Sabha collapsed this afternoon for want of quorum.

BJP member Ashok Argal raised the issue of quorum when the House took up the private members business and was to resume debate on the Electoral Reforms Commission Bill moved by CPI(M) member C K Chandrappan.

Some 30-40 members were present in the House and a few requested Argal to withdraw his notice as Private Members business was being discussed.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vayalar Ravi also made a submission that the discussion be allowed to continue as no government business was being transacted and appealed the member to withdraw but Argal stood his ground.

Deputy Speaker C S Atwal adjourned the House for the day after about 10 minutes for want of quorum
