Lower growth rate reflection of poor governance:Tamil Nadu CPI-M

COIMBATORE: The slower growth rate of Tamil Nadu, to the tune of 3.39 per cent in 2012-13, is a reflection of poor governance of the State Government, CPI-M State Unit alleged today. The figure of growth rates released by Central Statistics Office, showed that the Gross State Domestic Product of Tamil Nadu stood at 3.39 per cent, which was below the National average of 4.45 per cent, the party state secretary, G Ramakrishnan told reporters here.

This was the result of the failure of the government to take measures to tackle the power cut and deficit rainfall, following which the manufacturing and agriculture sector had shown a negative growth, he said. Ramakrishnan, here to campaign for the party mayoral candidate, sought re-elections from Orathanadu and Sankarkoil wards, from where the nominations of the party candidates were rejected. The State Election Commission should take steps as were taken in Chetpet in Tiruvannamalai, where it ordered repoll and suspension of the official concerned, based on the complaint filed by the party, he said.
