Long-term development plans for Chhattisgarh cities: Govt

Chhattisgarh government has prepared a long term development plan for 50 cities in the state for the next 30 years, a top official said on Wednesday.

RAIPUR: Chhattisgarh government has prepared a long term development plan for 50 cities in the state for the next 30 years, a top official said on Wednesday.

"The plan or the vision documents will also include the capital city Raipur," Urban Development Secretary Chittaranjan Khetan told the media.

Many cities do not have any master plan and this vision document would help them in systematic development for the next 30 years, Khetan said adding, the Urban Development Minister Amar Agarwal wanted such vision document in place with a view to check any unorganised growth of cities.

The plan has been prepared for the first time, keeping in mind the future size of the population and requirements of the cities.

The vision documents include development plans on drinking water, road, drainage system, commercial complex, traffic load and ways to ease them among others, the officials said.

The documents will be later sent to the local bodies concerned for ratification, the officials added.
