LONDON: The discovery of a giant bomb from World War II will disrupt subway service in east London.
Metropolitan Police say military experts will be dealing with a bomb weighing a ton (1000 kilograms), which was found near the site being developed for the 2012 Olympic Games. It is said to be the largest unexploded bomb found for three decades.
Police said service will be suspended on parts of the District and the Hammersmith & City lines beginning at 10 pm tonight and continuing into Friday.
Thousands of bombs fell on east London during the war and unexploded devices are found from time to time, particularly at construction sites.
