Lokayukta police serves summons to Yeddy, Kumaraswamy
The Lokayukta police served summon issued by a special court on former Karnataka CM BS Yeddyurappa seeking his appearance before it on August 27.
Meanwhile, the Lokayukta police also served summons issued by a special court on former chief minister HD Kumaraswamy and his wife seeking their appearance before the court on August 30 in a private complaint charging him with recommending renewal of a private firm’s mining lease. The summons were served on August 11, Lokayukta sources said here. On August 8, the Lokayukta court had ordered issue of summons to Kumaraswamy , JD(S) Karnataka unit president, and his wife on a private complaint filed by a citybased advocate accusing him of recommending renewal of Jentakal Mining Company’s mining lease and also allotting land to a private housing cooperative society for “personal gains” .
Apprehending his arrest, Yeddyurappa on Tuesday filed applications in the high court seeking bail in two cases pertaining to alleged irregularities in land denotification and an irrigation scheme. He moved his bail plea on a private complaint filed against him before Lokayukta court, alleging irregularities in denotification of land acquired by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA). The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday ordered issue of notice to the state chief secretary on a writ petition filed by Yeddyurappa challenging the sanction accorded for his prosecution by Governor HR Bhardwaj on private complaints relating to land scams.
