The process began when Congress chief whip Kodikunnil Suresh "expressed regret" on behalf of Opposition parties over the unsavoury protests that had led to the suspensions, and requested the chair to revoke them.

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju then moved the motion, seeking the sense of the House to lift the suspensions.
Dharmendra Yadav (SP) and Supriya Sule (NCP-SP) also affirmed the Opposition's commitment to constructive functioning, while urging the ruling side to avoid aggressive countering.
