Lok Sabha ready for stormy debate on issue of growing intolerance
NEW DELHI: Stormy scenes are expected in the Lok Sabha on Monday when the House will discuss the issue of “growing intolerance”. The Opposition is expected to target the government in a big way and would particularly target five ministers who had made controversial statements recently.

Minister of state General (retd) VK Singh is expected to come under heavy shelling for his controversial remarks on the killing of a couple of Dalit children in Haryana. Many senior Opposition leaders are expected to take the floor and Congress sources said party president Sonia Gandhi or her deputy Rahul Gandhi could participate in the debate, just as senior ministers would speak in defence of the government.

Although the Opposition has agreed for a debate under the general rule in the Lok Sabha, in the Rajya Sabha, where the government is in a minority, the Opposition parties are planning to press for a House resolution against “intolerance”.
