Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha adjourned over Congress rally slogans against PM
New Delhi: The Lok Sabha was adjourned twice on Monday due to protests, disrupting work in the first half.

As the House commenced with Question Hour, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiran Rijiju raised the reported offensive slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Congress' Delhi rally on Sunday and sought an apology from the Congress leaders.

"We are members of this House, representing various parties. We are opponents, not enemies. In 2014, a BJP member had stated something wrong about our political opponents and Modi ji made that person apologise for it. But, at yesterday's Congress rally, they talked about digging the grave of Modiji. The entire Congress leadership was present then. There can't be anything more unfortunate and shameful than Congress people raising such slogans against Modi ji, who is the PM of 140 crore Indians and a top leader of the world. The Congress leadership and the leaders of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha must apologise before the House and the nation for it," Rijiju said.

When the BJP MPs started protesting, Speaker Om Birla adjourned the House till 12 noon. When the House reconvened, Congress members were heard protesting. While no one was allowed to speak amid the protest, they were heard protesting against Rijiju's statement, with some also referring to the home minister and some others seeking the upcoming debate on pollution under certain specific rules. The chair then adjourned the House till 2 pm.

Congress MP KC Venugopal later told the media: "The BJP was making baseless charges. It is not our (Congress) custom to use unacceptable language against any political leader, even if they are our political rivals. On the other hand, look at the language Amit Shah ji used in Parliament last week. No leader would do such things".RAJYA SABHATOO DISRUPTED

BJP expressed serious concern in the Rajya Sabha too on Monday over the shouting of slogans against Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Congress rally. Congress supporters had shouted that Modi's political grave will be dug sooner than later. Nadda's objections led to protests from the Opposition even as Treasury Bench members stood in the PM's support, leading to adjournment of proceedings for an hour.

When the Upper House met for the day, Nadda raised this issue, saying slogans praying for the PM's end were uttered. He demanded that the Leader of the Opposition in the House as well as Congress leader Sonia Gandh i- who was present in the House- should apologise to the nation.
