Lok Sabha: Rahul Gandhi seeks central help; Minister Kiran Rijiju says PM at it

New Delhi: Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, urged the Centre to extend all help to the people of his erstwhile constituency Wayanad. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiran Rijiju said the prime minister has already sent a minister to the site to coordinate the rescue and rehabilitation work and has spoken to the Kerala chief minister on the matter.

Stating that he had already spoken to the defence minister and the Kerala CM, Gandhi said, "I request the Union government to extend all possible support ...and prepare a roadmap for the rehabilitation of the affected families." He stressed on the urgent need to map landslide-prone areas to develop an action plan to address the growing frequency of landslides.
