Lok Sabha polls: Congress shortlists Nandan Nilekani for Bangalore South

BANGALORE: The Congress in Karnataka shortlisted UIDAI chairman Nandan Nilekani among others for the Bangalore South LS seat on Saturday .

The State Congress Election Committee headed by president G Parameshwara met for the first round of empanelling names for the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies . The move is an effort to give candidates more time to familiarize themselves with their constituencies . The first list of candidates for some constituencies could be released next month .

This exercise was preceded by three rounds of visits by AICC observers and the state unit to constituencies to elicit the opinion of district frontal organizations. The shortlisted names will be vetted by the AICC screening committee before being sent to Sonia Gandhi for final approval.
