VADODARA: Vadodara has come up with a voter's awareness programme with an aim to increase voting up to 90 per cent during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Vadodara Lok Sabha constituency assumes significance in view of BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi and senior Congress leader Madhusudan Mistry contesting from there for the election scheduled on April 30.

"Booth level officers, schools and teachers, women self help groups, Aanganwadi workers, milk cooperatives and fair price shopkeepers will be the stakeholders in this drive," Vadodara district collector and returning officer Vinod Rao told said today.

Under the Election Commission's Systematic Voter's Education for Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme, the stakeholders will directly contact voters and encourage them to exercise their franchise, Rao said.

The month-long "Mission 90 Per cent Voting" will commence on April 1.
