Lok Sabha polls 2014: UP Cong candidate joins BJP
NEW DELHI: In an embarrassment to the Congress, its candidate from Gautam Budh Nagar Ramesh Chand Tomar today joined BJP accusing the Sonia Gandhi-led party of "encouraging divisive politics" in the country.

Tomar, who was in the BJP earlier, had unsuccessfully contested the last Lok Sabha elections as a Congress candidate from Gautam Buddh Nagar.

He joined the BJP in the presence of party president Rajnath Singh here.

"Congress is now giving fillip to communal forces in the country. The party is promoting divisive and communal politics...I was feeling uncomfortable in the party that is why I re-joined the BJP," Tomar said after joining the party in the presence of party president Rajnath Singh.

Tomar returned to the BJP after a gap of over five years as he was earlier a three-time BJP MP from Ghaziabad. "For me it was coming back to his home."

Praising BJP Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, he said "Modiji is for development and good governance and I will work for the victory of the BJP in the elections."
