NEW DELHI: From Kanyakumari to Kishangunj, the Gandhi family on Wednesday launched a blistering attack on BJP's PM candidate Narendra Modi and his party's "exclusivist, hate-filled" agenda as opposed to the Congress's inclusive idea.

Sonia Gandhi spoke in Kanyakumari against BJP's attempt to "divide the country", and attacked Modi, saying, "One individual goes across the country saying he will make India a paradise. You should reject the ambition of that individual."

She added, "We have to fight the forces that want to divide India... It's a dangerous combination of religious fanaticism, power and money. Their intention is to divide the country on communal lines and communal harmony is under threat under them."

Rahul, speaking in Kishangunj in Bihar, told Modi, "Hindustan ko ullu banana bandh karo (stop fooling the people of the country). The Gujarat model of development can be called the toffee model or balloon model which is nothing but loot of public money to benefit big people like Tata and Adani."

He said, "Modi doesn't know every person in Bihar has a radar. This radar helps them know when a person is saying something right or wrong... The Gujarat chief minister gave away 45,000 acres of land belonging to poor farmers, and the size of Purnea district, to a single person at the rate of Re 1 per sq metre, which is equivalent to the price of a toffee." Rahul's speech was greeted with applause from a crowd that was predominantly Muslim.

Priyanka, speaking in Amethi, said that BJP's ideology today was to concentrate all powers "in one person's hand (read Modi), where one man's decision will be applicable to all, and all government policies and programmes will be aimed at some selected people. This is a separate ideology....

On the other hand, there is the ideology of Congress which believes in unity ... which is of the view that everybody should come together. Their (BJP's) ideology is rooted in communalism. They might say anything but the internal truth is that their purpose is to propagate communalism and divide."
