Lok Sabha polls 2014: Six candidates in Tripura crorepatis

Six of the 25 Lok Sabha candidates contesting for the two seats in Tripura are crorepatis, with Aam Admi Party nominee Salil Saha the richest.

AGARTALA: Six of the 25 Lok Sabha candidates contesting for the two seats in Left Front ruled Tripura are crorepatis, with Aam Admi Party nominee Salil Saha the richest with assets of Rs four crore.

Congress candidate Prof Arunoday Saha is the second richest with assets of Rs 3.38 crore. Both the candidates are contesting from the West Tripura Lok Sabha constituency.

Congress nominee Sachitra Debbarma from East Tripura (ST) has assets of Rs 2.85 crore, a Tripura Election Watch release said here today.

CPI(M) candidate Jitendra Chowdhury from Tripura East constituency has Rs 1.13 crore in assets as does Indigenous People's Front of Tripura candidate Narendra Chandra Debbarma from the same seat.

Independent P Debbarma from Tripura West has over Rs 1.5 crore in assets.

The three candidates with the lowest assets are Falguni Tripura with Rs 3500, Subarnamala Debbarma Rs 7485 and Patalkanya Jamatia Rs 30,000.

Falguni Tripura is contesting on CPI-ML ticket and Subarnamala Debbarma and Patalkanya Jamatia are independents.

All the three are contesting from the East Tripura (ST) constituency.

Three candidates, Subal Bhaumick of Progressive Grameen Congress, Binay Debbarma of Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) and Shankar Prasad Dutta of CPI-M have criminal charges against them.
