Lok Sabha polls 2014: Hema Malini fails to connect with voters
AGRA: It has been about a week since Bollywood actress and BJP candidate from Mathura, Hema Malini landed in her constituency and began campaigning, but she hasn't been able to interact with the voters at the ground level. Party sources say that the "dream girl" has been busy appeasing party leaders and workers who were upset with her candidature and termed her as an "outsider". Hence, the actress-turned-politician has been occupied with attending get-togethers and obliging partymen with photo opportunities.

Malini, who is all set to take on RLD's prince Jayant Chaudhary from Mathura, took the first round of her constituency on 25 March. This was her second visit to Mathura and she failed to interact with voters at the ground level. One of her close aides told TOI that BJP workers and leaders at all levels want to get pictures clicked with her. Be it party supporters or senior dignitaries, everybody wants a photo opportunity with her.

At a recent party meeting on the eve of inauguration of BJP's office in Mathura, Malini faced a quarreling crowd of workers wanting to get a picture clicked with her.

Concerned over her election campaigning, BJP's bigwigs have decided to put up a camp in Mathura to provide momentum to the process. Uttar Pradesh BJP president Lakshmikant Bajpai will be accompanying Hema Malini in Mathura from 10 to 14 April.
