The day of polling in Punjab will be observed as a paid holiday for employees of govt and semi-govt offices, educational institutions of state govt, boards and corporations voters.

CHANDIGARH: Haryana government has notified April 30, the date of Lok Sabha elections in Punjab as a paid holiday for the employees registered as voters in the the neighbouring state.

The day of polling in Punjab will be observed as a paid holiday or special casual leave for employees of government and semi-government offices, educational institutions of state government, boards and corporations voters, an official release said.

The government has also said that employees of various factories, shops and private establishments located in Haryana, who are registered voters for April 30 parliamentary elections in Punjab will be allowed to take paid leave under the provisions of Representation of People Act.
