Lok Sabha Polls 2014: Absent Dharmendra puts Hema Malini in trouble

AGRA: Disappointed that yesteryear Bollywood actor Dharmendra had not turned up in Mathura to campaign for his wife and BJP candidate Hema Malini, 'Basanti-Veeru' fans in the constituency are now questioning the state of affairs in the actor couple's home. "Jo apna ghar nahi sambhaal sakti, woh Mathura kya sambhalegi?" (How can she manage Mathura when she cannot seem to manage her home?) a voter said.

Vishnu Sharma, an employee in a private bank in Mathura, said he had been excited about the possibility of getting a glimpse of the star couple.

"She promised at numerous public meetings that Dharmendra would visit Mathura. Her daughter Esha too said her father would be here in the final phase of campaigning. She cheated us. Now I am not going to vote for her," Sharma said.

Nancy Gupta said Hema had stated that she was happy to have her whole family rally for her. "Are Aahana and Esha her only family?" Gupta asked.

Anuj Garg, AAP candidate from Mathura, said voters would not spare Hema, as she had already lied to the people of Mathura.

"She made a wrong entry about her education in the affidavit. She put her name down as Hema Malini, even though I know she changed her caste and name before marrying Dharmendra. If she is not faithful to her religion, how she can be faithful to the people?" Garg said.

Chandan Singh, SP candidate from the constituency, said, "She probably thinks, like many in the BJP, that she will just ride the 'Modi wave' to victory. So what point in bringing Dharmendra here?"
