There have been 523 complaints of violations of the model code of conduct in Maharashtra since it came into force on March 5.

MUMBAI: There have been 523 complaints of violations of the model code of conduct in Maharashtra since it came into force on March 5.

Election officials said the complaints were about putting up banners, flex, holding meetings without permission and also defamation.

"There have been 523 complaints which were received from 35 districts of the state. FIRs have been registered in the cases," officials said.

Similarly, Rs 10 crore cash has been seized by the EC flying squads and the Income Tax department.

"The cash has been seized from political party workers who have not been able to provide satisfactory replies or proofs about the cash with them," officials said
