NEW DELHI: The Lok Sabha on Friday passed, amid Opposition protests, three bills including the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2023, which sought to further liberalise the sector by granting private sector players licence for exploration of critical minerals as well as empowering the Centre to exclusively auction mining lease and composite licence for critical minerals.

The House also introduced and passed The National Nursing and Midwifery Commission Bill and The National Dental Commission Bill. The House also introduced a bill to amend the Indian Institutes of Management Act, 2017.

Congress floor leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said no other business in the House should be transacted without taking up the pending no-confidence motion for debate and voting but Parliamentary affairs minister Pralhad Joshi argued that the no-confidence motion has 10 days’ time to be taken up after its admission.
