Lok Sabha elections 2014 result: Ruling SDF surges ahead of its rivals in Sikkim

SDF's Somnath Poudyal won Khamdong-Singtam seat by 296 votes defeating his nearest rival Mani Kumar Sharma of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM).

GANGTOK: Ruling Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) is surging ahead of its rivals, winning eight of the 32 Assembly seats so far and leading in the lone Lok Sabha constituency.

SDF star-winner is its four-time Chief Minister Pawan Kumar Chamling who won Namchi-Singhithang Assembly seat defeating Milan Rai of Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) by 1,084 votes.

SDF's other victors were Somnath Poudyal (Khamdong- Singtam) Dorjee Dazom Bhutia (Barfung), Sonam Dadul Bhutia (Yoksam-Tashiding), Sonam Gyatso Lepcha (Djongu), Kedar Nath Rai (Poklok-Kamrang) Tshering Wangdi Lepcha (Lachen-Mangnan) and Chandra Maya Limboo (Yangthang).

Opposition SKM has so far bagged three seats. In the lone Lok Sabha seat, SDF candidate Prem Das Rai is leading by over 14,000 votes against his nearest rival SKM candidate Tek Nath Dhakal.
