NEW DELHI: Lok Sabha was adjourned for 30 minutes today due to lack of quorum, prompting criticism of the government by opposition members.

The House was scheduled to meet at 2.15 PM after the lunch break, but the proceedings remained halted due to the lack of requisite number of members present.

The presence of at least 10 per cent of the total strength of House or about 55 members makes the quorum.

Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Pratap Rudy was seen moving in and out of the House in an effort to marshal enough numbers, but in vain.

As the proceedings remained suspended, an announcement for adjourning the House till 2.45 PM was made.

"What is this? This is not the first time. It happens every week. How serious is this government," Congress members K C Venugopal was heard telling the treasury benches.
