Live bombs found in Surat, bomb squad in action

Two live bombs were found in residential areas of the city creating panic.

SURAT: Two live bombs were on Tuesday found in residential areas of the city creating panic.

While one bomb planted near the police station in Ladeshwar area was defused by the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS), efforts were on to deactivate the second bomb in Santoshi Nagar area, police sources said.

Two bombs were defused by the squad on July 27 and 28 while two car bombs, also found in residential areas, were also neutralised by it since the serial blasts rocked Ahmedabad on Saturday leaving 49 dead and over 145 injured.

Large quantities of explosives, shrapnels and timing devices were found in the cars bearing fake number plates.

Police had yesterday released a sketch of a suspect who might have parked the car in the Heerabaugh area. The sketch was based on the description given by a watchman of a near-by building who had seen the man parking the vehicle.
