Linking death of a woman with Rahul Gandhi, an attempt to malign congress: Tarun Gogoi
GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister, Tarun Gogoi on Saturday said that the attempt to link the death of congress worker with congress vice president, Rahul Gandhi’s visit is an attempt to malign the party.

A controversy has broken out after a 35-year woman who had gone to take part in Rahul Gandhi’s interaction programmes was allegedly burnt to death by her husband.

Bonti Chutia is Bekajan Gaon Panchayat councilor. Some media reported she was one of the women who "kissed" the Congress leader during the event recently, however police clarified that the woman was not among 600 women who attended the interaction programme.

Gogoi said, “Bonti was not among the women who interacted with Rahul. This is conspiracy to malign the party.”

Local MLA and Congress General Secretary Rana Goswami and APCC chief spokesman Mehdi Alam Bora told the media that inquiries at the party level from its district and local units revealed that Bonti did not attend the meeting.
