Bizarre as it may sound but over four lakh government employees are yet to receive salaries of March due to a lightning strike.

As per reports, a lightning strike has led to a technical glitch in the Human Resources Management System (HRMS) that led to the delay in disbursement of salaries of the state government employees. The HRMS consists of the employee database and the application. The lightening apparently have damaged the servers of the system.

“The payment has been delayed as the server of our Human Resources Management System (HRMS) was damaged in lightning,” Odisha Finance Minister Shashi Bhushan Behera was quoted as saying by Odishatv.in.

He also added that the system has been repaired and the bill processing has begun.

Class III and IV employees are said to be in serious cash crunch because of the delay in salary disbursement.
