Manish Sisodia clearly stated that the state government led by Arvind Kejriwal will work in accordance with the direction laid down by the top court.
Hours after the Supreme Court ruling that redefined the role of Lieutenant Governor and settled Delhi's statehood discourse, Deputy Chief Minister, Manish Sisodia said that the Aam Aadmi party is grateful to Supreme Court for clearly laying down the division of power between Delhi government and the Lieutenant Governor.

Highlighting the real problem, he said, according to the constitution Delhi government is mandated to legislate on all subjects except land, police and law and order. The Modi government broke this constitutional provision by adding a fourth subject called the service, said Sisodia.

Drawing a comparison with the previous government, he said, if Sheila Dikshit's government had 50 per cent of the state to govern, we were left with only 10 per cent.

Blaming Lieutenant Governor for administrative failures, Sisodia said that there were repeated attempts to halt governmental functiong by the L-G. He said that the L-G held back files on day-to day issues.

He also stated that the L-G in accordance with centre's advice, misinterpreted the constitution thereby reducing the powers vested upon the elected government.

Earlier in the day, the apex court clearly stated that Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor (L-G) is bound to listen to the city’s democratically elected government and cannot act independently.

Supreme Court also underscored the need to adopt a 'consultative approach' while governing Delhi.

Sisodia clearly stated that the state government led by Arvind Kejriwal will work in accordance with the direction laid down by the top court.

He also said that the government was ready to install CCTV cameras throughout the city to increase vigilance and prevent crimes.

The Supreme Court in a majority jugement today said that the Delhi government can legislate on all issues but a trio which includes land, police and law and order.
