LIC agents demand PF, pension and mediclaim

COIMBATORE: The LIC agents' demands like welfare fund, provident fund, pension and mediclaim would come up for discussion during their one-day South Zone conference to be held here on Aug 18.
As LIC agents were entitled to commission and gratuity alone, the Government should immediately introduce pension, provident fund and mediclaim to them, LIC Agents' Organisation of India (LICAOI), general secretary, P G Dileep, told reporters here today.
The conference, in which union minister of state for finance, S S Palanimanickam would be the chief guest, would demand withdrawal of the proposal of FDI hike in insurance sector and also insurance broker system, corporate and cooperative agency system, Dileep said.
LIC was now (now) ignoring the 11 lakh strong marketing force, as was evident by neglecting them without giving any golden jubilee gifts, he alleged.
Other topics to be taken up included withdrawal of 15 per cent lapsation criteria, filling up of vacancies of development officers and permission to sell micro insurance policies.
They demanded that the government ensured that private insurance companies to strictly adhere to the rules.
The organisation also wanted maternity allowance to women agents and conveyance allowance to all agents.
