'LeT used quake money in Kashmir operations'
Lashkar-e-toiba’s parent outfit, Jamaat ul-Dawa, had routed money raised in British mosques for Pakistan occupied Kashmir’s quake victims to support terror activities in Jammu and Kashmir.
A New York Times report quoting British investigators said the home office is in the process of determining whether those suspected of plotting to blow up US-bound planes received money raised for quake relief by Jamaat Ul-Dawa.
The Pakistan’s most prominent Islamic fascist outfit is active in the mosques of Britain’s largest cities. It had played a major role in carrying out relief efforts after last October’s earthquake in PoK.
Those involved in the investigations told the New York Times, “some of the money raised in British mosques also went to the group’s militant activities in Jammu and Kashmir.” There is suspicion that some of those arrested after the aborted terror attempt might also visited Kashmir to help militants there.
The investigators are looking into the possibility that the group passed earthquake donations raised in British mosques to the plotters, the paper said quoting two people familiar with the investigation.
One former Pakistani official close to the intelligence officials there said JuD provided the money that was to be used to buy plane tickets for the suspects to conduct a practice run as well as the attacks themselves. The money is believed to have come directly from the group’s network in Britain and was not sent from Pakistan.
